Want the coolest ticket in town? Then you need to get to next year's Kaikoura Roots Festival...
The ticket is, in fact, a vinyl 12" featuring remixes of tracks by Fat Freddy's Drop, Salmonella Dub, TrinityRoots and Laughin' Gas. The tracks are exclusive mixes only available in the Roots Festival ticket format.
"By producing the ticket in a vinyl format we hope to encourage the real music lovers and turntable owners who are tuned to the quality of full range analogue sound," says organisers.
"We can't expect you to bring vinyl to the festival so the ticket portion of the package will be in the form of a CD with the full range of artists performing at the Festival listed in the order of appearance enabling punters to prep and pace themselves.
The limited run of 1200 Vinyl/CD tickets will be first offered to the database of last year's ticket buyers, with the remainder on sale through selected music retailers.
So far confirmed for the January 10 and 11 festival are: DJ Digital (UK), Salmonella Dub, Fat Freddy's Drop, TrinityRoots, son.sine, Zuvuya, DLT & Mighty Asterix, Laughin Gas, Downtown Brown & The Sunshine Soundsystem, BlackListed, Verse 2, Dubwize, Wicked Draw, Cornerstone Roots, Max Maxwell, Bluey, Rudeboy, Stinky Jim, Jagwah and DMC.
