Ending these warm winter school holidays on a high note, APRA AMCOS and Recorded Music NZ proudly announce the winners in the New Zealand Children’s Music Awards.
The awards were presented live this morning (Sunday 20th July) on TV2’s What Now by Jason Kerrison, a first for the show. “We are thrilled to be supporting and to be a part of these awards. We had such a fun show” Rebecca Fawcett, What Now Producer.
The winners for the 2014 Children’s Music Awards are:
Recorded Music NZ Best Children’s Music Album (NZ Music Awards Tui)
Anika Moa Songs For Bubbas
APRA Best Children’s Music Song of the Year
Anika Moa Colours are Beautiful
What Now Best Children’s Music Video
Dragons Under My Bed video by Aimee Herd (performed & written by Kath Bee)
The Children’s Music Awards for Song, Video and Album are increasingly garnering public interest, with entries from some of our children’s longtime favourites alongside artists better known on mainstream radio airwaves.
APRA AMCOS’ Anthony Healey says “Each of the finalist’s songs were so full of fun this year and it is awesome to see such a well-known artist as Anika taking such a big role in kids’ music. The videos bring the music to life and Aimee’s video for Dragons Under My Bed adds another level of creativity to Kath’s song.”
CEO of Recorded Music NZ Damian Vaughan says: “Anika’s winning album Songs For Bubbas earns her another Tui Award, and deservingly so. Kids all over New Zealand should get to hear this, it really is brilliant – and not just for bubbas!”
In celebration of this year’s awards APRA will be giving away a promotional album of the top entries with more information being announced over the next week.
