Jim Beam Homegrown… 57 Kiwi bands across 7 Stages!

29 September 2014 - 0 Comments

New Zealand’s Kiwi music festival is set to return on March 7th, 2015. The entire Wellington Waterfront will come to life with 57 bands and DJ’s performing across 7 stages. An all-star line-up, the addition of a new stage and transformation of two other stages will ensure Jim Beam Homegrown 2015 is nothing short of spectacular. The first announcement gives a hint of just how massive it will be!

Thanks to a powerful resurgence of Kiwi rock, the Jim Beam Rock Stage is the strongest it’s been in years! The mighty Shihad will be formidable headliners, with Blacklistt, the hugely popular Devilskin and rising stars, Silence the City and Black River Drive in the 1st announcement and three acts still to be released.

To accommodate the massive pulling power of Shapeshifter and Six60 a new open air stage will be used at the Jim Beam Dub & Roots area. The open air affair will also be the perfect place to kick back on the grass and soak up Tahuna Breaks, Tomorrow People and Sunshine Soundsystem with a further three huge acts set to round off a who’s who of Kiwi roots and reggae.

The Pop & RnB Stage starts the day with international sensation Ginny Blackmore and local favourite Benny Tipene. P-Money will transition into Sid Diamond (formally Young Sid) and a highly anticipated performance from David Dallas. Four more acts will complete a wall to wall line-up of Pop and RnB.

The Red Bull Lab is where the collaborative magic happens. Laughton and Brad Kora (L.A.B) bring their psychedelic funk and electronic rock, Wellington locals, Rhombus in Dub and superpower party-starters Brockaflowersaurus Rex are in the mix, as is the silky smooth Donell Lewis who joins forces with 9-piece reggae band Brown Hill. The 1st announcement is rounded off by Raiza Biza, Young Tapz and Mzwetwo; they have individually been called the future of hip-hop so it will be a rare treat to see them on stage together.

The Lipton Ice Tea Electronic Stage features Concord Dawn and Opiuo, one of the few Kiwi artists to play Coachella. PDigggs and Sambora from Shapeshifter unleash The Peacekeepers featuring MC Tiki Taane and PNC. Dan Aux and Beat Mob complete the first announcement with 2 acts still to come.

New to the festival in 2015 is the free to the public Promenade Stage. The intriguing line-up already includes Tiki Taane’s renowned acoustic set, young Auckland rapper Randa, hip-hop funk duo J Brown and the Mic Smith, NZ music award finalist K+Lab and mystical hip-hop group Third3ye.

Also free to the public, the Locally Sourced Stage will showcase an impressive collection of local talent. The critically acclaimed Estere and Black City Lights, local beat head Pea Stew, the rising star of Ash Graham and the honed talents of The Bone$ - who include players from AHoriBuzz, Little Bushman and Chocolate Box.

With 22 big names still to be announced on November 3rd, Jim Beam Homegrown is sure to sell out! For more information on the line-up and how to secure the pre-sale early bird tickets on sale from 29th September (only $89+b.f), visit http://www.homegrown.net.nz/.
