Blue Bach Productions is pleased to announce the hugely popular television music series My Country Song, is back for a second series on Māori Television and auditions are open now.
Hosted by country music legend Dennis Marsh and NZ Gold Guitar winner Saelyn Guyton, My Country Song provides a platform for musicians to showcase their talent.
This series is unique. It is not a competition. Performers are encouraged to share their original compositions and their favourite country songs in a supportive environment.
Performers will be given the opportunity to perform their song with a professional backing band led by accomplished musical director, Richard Anaru. As New Zealand's top selling country music artist, My Country Song presenter Dennis Marsh will take on a mentoring role, offering advice to performers on the show.
“I am looking forward to working with up and coming homegrown artists. This is a great opportunity for exposure. Come and share the stage with us.”My Country Song, Blue Bach Productions producer Libby Hakaraia said country music is growing ever more popular in New Zealand because it's music with great stories.
“We had some fantastic talent in the first series and we expect to find gold in this second series!”
The first series aired on Maori Television in May 2013 showcasing more than 100 performers from throughout Aotearoa.
Following the success of the series, the 'Best of My Country Song' album reached number eight in the NZ Music Album Chart.
13 shows featuring up to seven performers will be filmed during November and December 2014 in Whangarei, Rotorua and Porirua.
