Wendyhouse release their first LP since 2005’s Christmas Album! A Christmas album?
90's darlings of New Zealand’s student radio network, Wendyhouse are now a couple of middle-aged dad's without the energy or good looks to party with the youth market. Back in the day, the music press considered Wendyhouse talented but strange. Strange turns eccentric now that these men are in their 50's. With toy keyboards, guitar, and a fondness for writing songs about anything and everything except boy meets girl. Songs about social media, expletives, zen, John Key and built-in obsolescence can all be found on Banana Wine.
“...audiences were genuinely mind blown,
shocked, amused and horrified…” - William
Dart - Radio New Zealand
The rest of the story is detailed in the intro to the enclosed comic
That’s right, this CD LP is housed in a comic book, in which all song lyrics have been given the speech bubble treatment. Both Wendyhousers - EE monk and Mr Pudding - are avid cartoonists, in fact, Mr Pudding (AKA Bryce Galloway) recently released the graphic memoir Incredibly Hot Sex with Hideous People: Diary Comics, in conjunction with Melbourne’s Pikitia Press.
This CD is released on Wendyhouse’s own Wiggley Tapes in conjunction with The Audio Foundation, and was kindly mastered by the Audio Foundation’s Jeff Henderson.
CD/Comic available in Aotearoa from selected retailers.
