It’s official! Black IS the new BLACK... again.
Bogans raise that glass of homebrew, Goths put those candles down, Hip Hop kids just get down and Emo kids… well you can stop crying because this year NZ Music Month is back and in BLACK.
You have all heard of a whitewash… well let’s just say that this coming May it is going to be a BLACKWASH. Last year NZ Music Month celebrated its 5th birthday and made black the official colour of NZ Music; and because we all looked so good in it we decided to keep it that way.
May 2006 is New Zealand Music Month, a chance for the media, the artists, the broadcasters, the retailers and of course the audience to come together and celebrate the passion, dedication and talent that is the backbone of the Aotearoa music community.
Since the inception of NZ Music Week in 1997, NZ Music Month has not only been pushed out to a whole month but every NZ Music Month has seen an increase in radio play, record sales and the number of live gigs happening in New Zealand.
New Zealand Music Month tees will be on sale in May at Hallensteins stores up and down the country, giving every Kiwi the opportunity to buy a little bit of NZ music history. You will be able to spot NZ Music Month posters (and the infamous target) everywhere from Kaitaia to the Bluff.
The NZ Music Month gig guide will be up and running so prepare yourself for many a late night this coming May. No need to worry however as NZ Music Month will ease you all into the festivities with a matinee live extravaganza and a good night’s sleep. Everyone can sign up for updates with a quick visit to www.nzmusic.org.nz
It’s all shaping up to being another busy May, let’s make NZ Music Month 2006 the best one yet!
