RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Fri Nov 30, 2007 2:43 pm They're going to announce another four overseas acts soon. Hopefully they're as big as Ozzy and Kiss. Plus there is a huge local lineup too. Heard the promoter on the radio this morning. There is only going to be one stage, so you'll only have one big act on at a time. Between sets they're going to have a couple of smaller stages set up, so you can keep on rocking! Looking good so far guys! ROCK2WGTN Concert Lineup: Confirmed Acts to date Easter 2008 - Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 March Saturday 22 March Music starts at 6:30pm: Special NZ Act Lordi plays 1 hour Alice Cooper plays 1 hour KISS plays 1 ½ hours NZ bands in between: Sonic Altar + The Symphony of Screams Total 5 hours Sunday 23 March Music starts at 6:30pm: The Valves Poison plays 1 hour Whitesnake plays 1 hour Ozzy Osbourne NZ bands in between: Sonic Altar + The Symphony of Screams Total 5 hours Tickets from Ticketek |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Fri Nov 30, 2007 3:12 pm I'm crossing my fingers that it's an exciting & innovative bunch of bands being announced, I shudder to think about generic radio dreck that's getting airplay on The Rock at the moment (Hinder, Hoobastank, Nickelback, Seether etc, if you get my drift). |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Sun Dec 2, 2007 8:34 pm the westpac trust stadium is the worst venue for music, but maybe it is better than the TSB arena ick! |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Mon Dec 3, 2007 12:04 pm Correct. Finnish heavy metal group Lordi have been announced as part of the line up for Rock2Wgtn. The band, whose five members dress in elaborate costumes as monsters and demons, won the Eurovision song contest last year. http://www.lordi.fi/ |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Mon Dec 3, 2007 1:09 pm Heard a crazy rumor about Van Halen the other day. Hmmmmm. Probably bollocks. Eh, Lordi... they'll be fun for a laugh. Gwar are way cooler though! |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Mon Dec 3, 2007 3:51 pm Ozzy is cool, but check this out http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU0711/S00384.htm Ugh. Sonic Altar have to be one of the shittiest bands in NZ, wow they won world battle of the bands, the Dunedin event didn't even go ahead because of how shit Intergalactic Records are at organising events. Really representative sample, if this is the quality of NZ bands that are going to feature, then I really question Phil Sprey's judgment. But that being said, I'll prob still buy a ticket and just go watch Ozzy haha |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Tue Dec 4, 2007 5:43 am Just checked that Sonic Altar article - it missed the mark... comparing them to Ozzy & Zeppelin? Miles off. I hear more Deep Purple & Uriah Heep there, especially in the vocals. Not bad. Good cheese factor in there |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Tue Dec 4, 2007 10:54 am What are people's thoughts on this: http://www.stuff.co.nz/4307239a10.html It seems that certain groups of people don't like the idea that Rock2WGTN will be promoting "devil worship" over Easter. Personally, I think it's about choice. I can choose to take part in religious activities over Easter, or I can go to a massive concert. "I don't think we can force our views on others but at the same time we think it's a very negative influence on our city." That statement makes me laugh. For one, it's contradictory. Two, getting big international acts into Wellington is great, as it sets Wellington up as an alternative venue, than say, Auckland. Great for us people in this part of the country. So maybe a negative influence for the church-goers, but a positive one for the region as a whole. Heck, isn't this the type of thing that starts wars? |
