RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Tue Dec 4, 2007 12:20 pm i think it should be up to the individual to make up their own mind. think for yourself, question authority (tacky tool quote sorry). i think its wrong to have a mass force a united belife onto ever1 else. btw dose any1 have a guess as to how much the tickets will be? |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Tue Dec 4, 2007 1:20 pm Quote:It seems that certain groups of people don't like the idea that Rock2WGTN will be promoting "devil worship" over Easter. What gets me is these right-wing religious bigots don't bother to really look into the bands they're protesting against. I mean, you've got Behemoth playing Welly this month, where's the mass protest there? Their "Apostasy Across Australasia" tour posters should rile them up, Apostasy means "the rejection of your religious convictions". But NOOOOOO Ozzy and Kiss are more well known and easier to make an example of. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Tue Dec 4, 2007 1:26 pm. |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Tue Dec 4, 2007 4:05 pm I've also heard a rumor that Rob Zombie is touring with Ozzy at the same time Ozzy is coming to NZ - wouldn't that be fanfuckingtastic? |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Tue Dec 4, 2007 4:59 pm Not a fan huuuge of Rob's solo work (a bit bland for me, but parts of Hellbilly Deluxe were heavy as balls and I still listen to them) but White Zombie are one of my favourites from way back when so... HELL YEAH that'd be cool if he came. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Tue Dec 4, 2007 5:56 pm. |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Wed Dec 5, 2007 7:33 am How many children have been molested at the hands of a so-called man of God? How many wars have been started in God's name? By their logic, I should be justified in protesting people singing hymns in public. |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Wed Dec 5, 2007 8:54 am Totally agree... pity that those following certain religions don't follow logic when explaining why things like this happen. I think as a society (at least in NZ) we've moved on enough to not be dictated to by religion. Hopefully Wellington City Council feels the same way. They could always move to it Palmy if Wellington doesn't want it! |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Wed Dec 5, 2007 10:17 am Remember when Catholics protested Te Papa's "Virgin Mary in a Condom" exhibition? What a mess! Made great news viewing for me though... especially when a death metal band pulled up playing on the back of a truck |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Thu Dec 6, 2007 10:29 am Mudvayne would be fun to watch (that bassist is insane)... but I only seem to find 2 good songs per album from those guys. Nothing to Gein is awesome. |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Thu Dec 6, 2007 3:10 pm Quote:Ozzy is cool, but check this out http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU0711/S00384.htm Ugh. Sonic Altar have to be one of the ......... bands in NZ, wow they won world battle of the bands, the Dunedin event didn't even go ahead because of how .... Intergalactic Records are at organising events. Really representative sample, if this is the quality of NZ bands that are going to feature, then I really question Phil Sprey's judgment. But that being said, I'll prob still buy a ticket and just go watch Ozzy hahaThats very interesting. It's good to know we are one of the worst NZ bands around. As for quality, would you prefer us to sound more like Nickelback or something? I know I can't expect everyone to like us, but I feel we're suited very well musically for the event. Be prepared. We'll kick your ass (sonically speaking). http://www.myspace.com/sonicaltar -Kane of Sonic Altar. |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Thu Dec 6, 2007 5:59 pm Thanks baphomet Unfortunately here and now I don't even know anything about ticket prices etc. But from what I've heard it'll be a decent amount. Also I believe that there will be separate ticketing for each day or options like that. From what I've heard, tickets will be on sale sometime before Christmas. This is all just stuff I've heard flying round either on the rock or from press releases. Hope that helped somewhat. See you there! -Kane. |

I know I can't expect everyone to like us, but I feel we're suited very well musically for the event. At first I though you's were a bit 80's rock (as in Def Leppard, Whitesnake etc) but when I listened again I realised it's most definately early 70's influenced hard rock. The vocals are very Ian Gillan-esque - which is refreshing to hear because there's a lack of decent vocalists in rock worldwide right now. All the dirty retro rock I hear (all those bands that start with "The") seems to have the same flaccid, laclustre vocalist (who either puts distortion on their vocals, sings thru their fist for that extra texture their voice doesn't naturally have), and piss-weak riffs. Either that or we've got Eddie Vedder wannabies everywhere singing from the back of their throat. /end rant. Keep it up. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Thu Dec 6, 2007 6:26 pm. |

RE: Rock2WGTN Posted: Thu Dec 6, 2007 6:28 pm Amen to that brother. For some reason people seem to think that if a guitar is tuned right down and distorted to high hell that vocals should follow suit. Which can be cool... But can also get stale. Ian Gillan is in my top 5 influences thats for sure, along with Dickinson, Osbourne, S. Tyler etc... That's another interesting point, the 'dirty retro rock'... I don't get why it has to be dirty... if you listen to recordings they're trying to emulate a lot of them have better production values than the result they end up with now. Although now we're getting into subjective territory so I better stop. I like to think we draw a lot from the 70's and the good parts of 80's (which there were quite a few). So I guess that'll be the 70's/80's confusion. But we don't dwell on it too much, it comes out just the same as anything when writing... As in we don't sit down and say 'Thats not Deep Purple enough or Sabbath enough' heheh. I wonder how long before guitar solo's are outlawed entirely? Fuck that. Cheers for your thoughts. -Kane. |
