I am already guessing Radiohead, with a new album out and not touring the pacific region so far, skipping out NZ and AUS on their Japan tour. Deals are booked far in advance so I am thinking Radiohead will be headliner for 2009, tickets will sell out in record time if this happens!!

Does anyone think there is any chance that M.I.A. will make a show in 2009?

Also, looking at the NIN tour dates, they are finishing up a massive US/CAN tour in December, so time for Europe/Pacific region? Are they even big in Europe?

im picking rammstein and the prodigy will be there as they are both working on new albums and no ones seen them down this neck of the wood of late, i wouldnt be suprised if mgmt does a show here for bdo. And also if you know you bdo history Shihad will be back for there late afternoon slot, they always do two years in a row then a year off.
Nine Inch Nails wouldnt suprise me either.

Im also guessing on a few other bands here.

Fur Patrol (new album out)
Headless Chickens (reunion)
Tiki (yes i know he did last year but hes gain a lot more of a following)
Luger Boa (After the shihad gigs they did this wont suprise me)
The Mint Chicks (also after shihads tour and a new album coming out)
Minuit (album out december/ the rocked it last time around)
The Galvatrons
The Tiger Tones

Anyway thats just a few guesses for now

Serj Tankian would be good... he lives here half the time, you'd think he'd finally play a goddman show!

haha I was reading the post and thought.. this sounds familiar.. Happy
2002 BDO - Prodigy, System of a Down, Shihad, Drowing Pool!
I have heard the new Prodigy stuff - and you know what.. I was highly disapointed. My review: Old Album - re-mixed with a few different rifs.! Was looking for something new from them !

Heh, I met Drowning Pool at that one... not my cup o tea but nice guys.

Prodigy don't really have anything to add to British Electronica in my opinion, but what they did in the 90's was brilliant.

Well I'm listening to a live bootleg of the new Prodigy and it's actually bloody good!

Starts off kinda Dubtep-ish then busts into some rather oldschool sounding Drum n Bass. Keith Flint on the mic too, he's great to watch on stage. I don't like MC's as a rule but he's a great frontman and keeps the crowd moving. None of this "yesh yesh masshive now indahoushe" bollocks.

MIA would be cool.

If radiohead came I would be there for sure. Thom Yorke is a hero.

well it's about a month before the first announcment and i must say that i am surprised at the lack of rumors. nothin concrete and no bands have been mentioned that would make me part with my cash.
WHATS GOING ON!!??

I don't recall much coming out before October last year either. Only "speculation", which amounts to naught unless it comes from reliable sources... and the "industry people" keep a tight lid on that sort of thing... unless they WANT it to come out so they can gauge the response (yes, promotors do deliberately leak info just to test the water, so to speak).

Ageing rocker Neil Young could be the headline act at next year's Big Day Out music festival, if rumours on an Australian website are to be believed.

Yee haw should be a right ol' shindig.

I can appreciate Neil Young performing at BDO, but HEADLINING? Come on...

Neil Young, RLY!?!?!?!

Good news, but don't think he's the best choice of a headliner.

Good to see them mixing it up with some more "legendary" stuff rather than the flavour of the month that they usually go for.

Take MGMT off the list, they are touring Australia from the 6th - 13th December. Wonder if they will drop by NZ, they are popular enough, if they don't consider then you have got to be kidding me.

I'm interested in:
Bloc Party
Prodigy
Living End
Nick FREAKIN Cave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and that' sit.

Living End I've seen a million times and will be seeing them again in ChCh, but they're so freakin awesome live that another time won't hurt.
Prodigy I've already seen
but Bloc Party would be GREAT to check out

And Nick Cave.......... goddamn, I think I might have to go.
