RE: Big Day Out 2009 Posted: Sun Sep 28, 2008 8:50 pm I doubt Cobra or TAI will do BDO, they aren't BDO material, they tried MCR and that failed, haha. I see there are some BDO posters up on Symonds St opposite Starbucks. The new BDO 09 design is wicked. Says Summer 09 at the bottom, so excited |

RE: Big Day Out 2009 Posted: Mon Sep 29, 2008 12:50 am Hi all, I've got some questions. I am from The Netherlands and next year me and some mates are visiting your country. We will be in Auckland at 12 januari, so I hope we can go to BDO there. Ive heard that in the next few days there will be the first announcement, will they announce the date aswell? Will it be easy for us to get tickets, can we order them from the internet and wont they be sold out soon? And what are the other wicked festivals in januari/februari in your country? Thnx in advance and hope to see you there |

And you should be able to order tickets online. Best check their site though. Every time I've been I've done it 100% thru the internet. NZ Big Day Outs don't sell out too quickly but the Australian ones have done in the past. You have some time up your sleeve. A lot of people (myself included) hang out for the second announcement before making any decisions. |

RE: Big Day Out 2009 Posted: Mon Sep 29, 2008 2:22 pm im pretty sure that it will be friday the 23rd or 16th, it seems to always be on a friday in new zealand, this year it was friday the 19th i think. also if the new zealand show does sell out it usually won't be till bout a week before the actual event. so yeah you should have some time. anouncment is tomorow and i will be up at the crack of noo to check it out. as i said im not expecting much. hoping for prodigy and deftones, doubt it tho. |

I doubt it, they'd all be sworn to secrecy, plus MGMT are booked for a AUS tour in the middle of Dec, so I highly doubt they will be there for BDO. But that would be amazing if they were coming. |

They will announce the date when they announce the first line up announcement which for us is tomorrow... but if you are there on the 12th, then it would be unlikely that you would miss it. It is usually the friday around the 20th. The tickets don't go on sale until the first announcement and it depends on the line up, whether or not it will sell out.. so if it has some really big popular bands then it is likely to sell out. It has in the past but not always. Best option is to get in there at the beginnig especially if you are overseas. I'm not actually sure if you can buy BDO tickets online.. however if you know someone in NZ you can get them to buy you one in advance or else after a few weeks you can check out our website www.trademe.co.nz which is the new zealand version of ebay and there are likely to be people selling tickets there. Check out the Big Day Out 09 website which will be up and running in the next few days and you'll be able to find out for sure if you can or can't buy tickets online. To answer your last question, other awesome festivals that are all around NZ at the beginning of the year... there is Big Day Out, Camp A Low Hum, WOMAD, Splore, Summerdayze, Rhythm and Vines is massive this year but thats over New Years, Parachute (christian music festival), A.R.E.A 9, Raggamuffin.. plus other festivals that mix music, dance and other things together like theatre. It all depends what kind of music you are into. If you have any more questions i'll be happy to answer them. |

RE: Big Day Out 2009 Posted: Mon Sep 29, 2008 11:38 pm BDO is getting less and less metal to be honest. Soundwave, an aus festival has alot of metal acts booked, and they are bringing a side show to NZ with the top 5 or 6 headliners coming apparently. |

RE: Big Day Out 2009 Posted: Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:09 pm average line up. LOVE prodigy. would also see pendulum. the living end. the datsuns. and if i was in the mood for some b grade emo metal bullet for my valantine. bet the ravers are happy. i garantee that prodigy will play at the same time as neil young. to garantee a sale from me they will need to add at least 1 decent metal band!! F*cking do it!! i am hopful as trivium, mudvayne and slipknot were all second announcments. |

RE: Big Day Out 2009 Posted: Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:35 pm Yeah I'm a pretty dedicated metal fan, and have been for 20 odd years, but I don't expect metal bands at this festival. It's a mainstream festival, and the music I like isn't mainstream. I don't expect much, or any metal. If we do get it, it's generally the flavour of the month stuff, flaccid plastic mall metal like (historically speaking) Trivium and Drowning Pool. If they did include a token extreme metal band nobody would pay $100+ to go see them for 40 minutes at half-volume. |
