Little Lars can't keep up And hearing James attempt those songs brings a tear to my eye, and not in a good nostalgic way. Shame, cuz they're my favourite band |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Mon Aug 20, 2007 10:33 am Anyone think Foo fighters will come back again for 2008? They've got a new album coming out towards the end of this year. They seem to like BDO's. Although it's highly unlikely.... I want to see Weezer. |

Not that shadow is with them anymore but War stories is such an awesome album. that would make my BDO for 08. i would love the mars volta to come back but after the march(?) concert i don't think they will for a while. RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Tue Aug 21, 2007 10:35 am yeh i was. it was totally awesome! although it was strange how they played almost every track from amputechture exactly how it is on the album. i'd seen them once before and it was like a big ol random jam with a couple of recognisable pieces thrown in so that wasn't what i was expecting at all. so good though! |

I thought it was awesome. They played all their songs as they were on the albums, but they also included extended guitar and drum solos which were out of this world. And they opened with rapidfire tollbooth, which was the first time they have ever played that song live, and is to be on their latest album. |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Thu Aug 30, 2007 12:20 pm I'd be keen for Rage to come... and I'd love Marilyn Manson to come, seeing as I can't get tickets for his October show. But I doubt he'll come. After all, he's playing a show in Auckland three months before BDO. It would be pretty sweet if Muse came again... They're fucking awesome live. But again, they are doing a couple of shows in NZ in a couple of months, so it's unlikely they'll come. Unfortunately, 48 May and Goodnight Nurse will probably be there. I have no clue who will be headlining. I don't think that the Chilli's will be headlining though. |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Thu Aug 30, 2007 9:13 pm Why don't you like seeing live bands anymore? other than the kids' violent spin kicks, which personally I find rather amusing and fun to watch if the band itself becomes boring. |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Fri Aug 31, 2007 10:16 am Quote:Why don't you like seeing live bands anymore?Meatheads who use the music as an excuse to cause a rukkus. The same old bald-headed knuckle-draggers staggering around with beer and blood down the front of themselves. I remember headbanging, stomping and jumping, not shoving, punching and and headbutting. Maybe I've turned into a bit of a snob over the years, but I no longer enjoy fighting to stay on my feet (and I'm not a small guy) and stinking of other peoples sweat. The only times I've enjoyed "getting messy" in recent times is when I was on tour with Sinate and other bands and blind drunk. But there was a sense of unity amongst the chaos, not the aggro I see everywhere. To illustrate my point... I recall playing on stage, looking to the outskirts of the pit where my girlfriend was, and this munt from the front just throws himself all over the pit, right to the outskirts, and knocks her flying. If I was at the same stunted stage of evolution he was at I'd have jumped down and caved his face in with my guitar. But I didn't. Guys like that love fights. A broken nose is a sign of a good night to twits like that. And another reason the overall quality of bands, IMO, is pretty poor. I only seem to enjoy a lot of bands after 9 or so beers. That says it all. /end rant about the local scene. Haven't seen a show since I quit Tainted and I have to say I don't miss a thing. There's about two bands in ChCh left that I'd actually take the time out to go see. OH SNAP! |
