RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Mon Sep 3, 2007 11:00 am Quote:Quote:yeh i was. it was totally awesome! although it was strange how they played almost every track from amputechture exactly how it is on the album. i'd seen them once before and it was like a big ol random jam with a couple of recognisable pieces thrown in so that wasn't what i was expecting at all. so good though! I thought it was awesome. They played all their songs as they were on the albums, but they also included extended guitar and drum solos which were out of this world. And they opened with rapidfire tollbooth, which was the first time they have ever played that song live, and is to be on their latest album. They'd played Rapidfire Tollbooth at nearly every show since Jon Theodore had left, so it wasn't the first ever time they'd played it. They played a new song (which I forget the name of) later on in the set that they'd never played before. They also played all the amputechture tracks nearly exactly as they are on the album because it was their first gig with that drummer. I would say they'd be back to their old jams and what not by now. I wouldn't rule them out for BDO '08, they seem to be pretty tight with Lees and West. They've also got a new album coming out later on this year. They're pretty hardworking and have played 4 shows here in the last 3 years! It could be Sparta's turn for another BDO performance though..... RATM seem to be the biggest rumour at the moment. The Smashing Pumpkins are also a big possibility but hopefully they don't play, I've heard that pretty much all their performances since they re-formed (if you want to call it that) have been complete rubbish. RATM would be awesome and much more worthy of the headline spot to be honest.... |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Mon Sep 3, 2007 1:14 pm Most live footage of the Pumpkins I have seen is terrible. And that's the OLD footage from the 90's. Corgan's voice is almost always sub-par. |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Mon Sep 3, 2007 11:10 pm Hmm, in reply to the guessing game, who i want to, or think we will see in 08' Arcade Fire Rage Against The Machine Smashing Pumpkins Bjork Klaxons Bang Gang Deejays? The Presets? Midnight Juggernauts? i have no idea about metal bands and the like, but those are my guesses so far. Daft punk are coming around for never ever land, in december, so it would be good to see them too, but it might be a too long time braket between nevereverland and BDO... it would be great though... |

RE: Big Day Out 2008 Posted: Thu Sep 6, 2007 2:53 pm haha yeah I've seen that... Omar smashing his guitar into his amps was awesome! I heard an interview with him where they were talking about that incident and he said they didnt actually storm off the stage and that their set was over. Apparently some people grabbed the guy who threw the urine and handed them over to security. He got kicked out and didn't get to see RHCP haha. |
