RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sun Oct 5, 2008 2:58 pm Be great wouldn't it? all the blog on his my space site says is to standby for an announcement soon on Austarlia & New Zealand tour dates. So of course I suggested he put CHCH on the schedule to his managers email! HAHAHAHA. Used the old "Maiden can't be bothered coming to CHCH" maybe you will! line! We'll see eh? Be worth travelling to see him. I often wondere what Maiden woudl sound liek today if they'd stuck with Di'anno through the 80s & 90's. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sun Oct 5, 2008 10:50 pm Yeah I agree. Would be good to hear Di'anno with them today. Who knows one day they might have some sort of reunion gig with former members! I also wonder had Clive Burr not left what they would have sounded like as well. Nicko really changed the way their music sounded with his drumming when he came in. In the Blaze Bayley years, I wonder if any thought was ever given to going back to Di'anno by the band? probably not. Hey it would be great if Di'anno played Rock2CHCH in 2009! |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Mon Oct 6, 2008 2:24 pm Roadie, Gillan has never played New Plymouth. Not being difficult but... The only gig the bikers brought through was Jethro Tull at the stadium. Maybe it was one of your dreams? Wonder if Dianno is allowed into NZ or Australia? He has drug and gun convictions that stop him going to USA now. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Tue Oct 7, 2008 3:53 pm We were in Auckland for a touring show. Can't remember which one. Think it might have been Cats??? All I remember is Kev getting in the shit downtown after we worked the concert pack in. Don't think the show had started yet. I think it was still in rehersal & we buggered off to the Purple concert. Joe got us a job doing the pack in. Then I think we watched the show until pack out & then went down town. We were staying at a ratty old back packers somewhere down town. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:27 pm Anyone heard the the New album Black Ice? I went to buy it & the shop I was going to buy it from had it on. After listening to about 8 songs I didn't bother. It sounded quite plodding & as though it was "forced" if you know what I mean. Didn't have the edge of earlier AC/DC albums. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Tue Oct 21, 2008 3:07 pm That Acca Dacca single on the radio does indeed sound a bit paint-by-numbers AC/DC to me. Same old plodding beat. Same old E-A-D riff. Very uninspired sounding chorus too. A bit like the new Metallica, it sounds like they've tried to sound how they think classic AC/DC is supposed to sound, whereas they coulda done something a tad more interesting. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Tue Oct 21, 2008 9:55 pm Yeah Black Ice... I think I liked about 2 songs out of what I heard at the shop. But to be fair, AC/DC have always been criticized for making the same album over and over again (a bit of an exaggeration but somewhat true). They usually had a couple of wowzers on an album... I didn't hear any wowzers on this one. Bit sad seeing as its been near a decade since Stiff Upper Lip. Who knows how clued up Close Up's info was... Maybe they heard got it from a message board I heard KISS got around a million bucks or something ridiculous to play in Wellington... So Led Zep surely could ask for that easily! Ahhh. Too many bands to rumor, too little time. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Wed Oct 22, 2008 4:31 pm Wingman, Spud said the other day he reckoned Labour Weekend next year was the talk. Haven't heard from him since. When I do again I'll see what I can find out. He was pretty sure AC/Dc were gonna be here late 2009. Still things could have changed while he was away or he got it wrong as bloody usual! |
