RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:25 pm Yeah, thats what Roaddog & I reckoned too. He was brilliant. I liked the fact that he went from song to song without any of the bullshit between songs. The only reason decrpit old Ozzy was talking was becuase he needed a bloody break! Why the hell else did Zak Wylde play a 20 min guitar solo for? As far as I am concerned, Ozzy is totally over rated. They wank on about him being "The Prince Of Darkness" and all that crap. Well mate if he really is then God has nothing to fear! I reckon hes a joke now & needs to retire gracefully. Alice Cooper who is older than him I think made him look very amatuerish in Wellington. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sun Nov 16, 2008 9:18 pm Agreed, Winger, and I think even age should not be an excuse. Dio is a lot older than Ozzy, but he still rocks the devils and angels out of H&H. I saw Ozzy 24 years ago and he was no more than 5% better than today. His studio recordings are fantastic. His live presentations are... just fun! Ozzy is a certainly a great entretainer. He works better on TV and on studio, where there is no audience for him to beg us to shout louder of to see our f...g hands. "C'mon, Mr. Osbourne, if you deliver good rock, our hands will be up!" RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sun Nov 16, 2008 11:00 pm Sharon is a psycho mate! What she did to Iron Maiden at Oz fest a year or so back was nothing short of F**Ked in the head! Yeah Ozzy does some great studio stuff. I guess the point that me old mate Wingman is tyrin' to make is that its good commercial metal. But this prince of darkness crap is just that...crap! |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 9:00 am It was indeed very stupid what she did out of jealousy. She is indeed a fighter, but she cheated there. I still admire their long-standing wedded life. It is thanks to her, that Ozzy is still around, I reckon. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 12:02 pm if i was one of the main cats in capitol C then i would keep a close eye on how the ticket sales go between auck and chch for the iron maiden concert. one can only asume that the one that sells best would be the best canidate for hosting the next rock2??? fest. RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Thu Nov 20, 2008 11:05 am Hi Everyone! well i just wanted to add my thoughts to the thread... i love rock2wgtn apart from ozzy and kiss and to a lesser extent lordi. The rest of the acts were awesome and my high points were Whitesnake and Alice Cooper, Whitesnake just kicked ass in my opinion. Oh yeah im totally stoked Maiden are coming here!! i went to Brisbane earlier in the year to see them because i thought they weren't coming to nz! 2 maiden shows in about a year will be cool This message was edited by sbeehre on Thu Nov 20, 2008 11:07 am. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Thu Nov 20, 2008 1:22 pm aye Whitesnake were pretty wicked. Best band on the 2nd day easily. David Coverdale is an amazing singer and frontman. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Thu Nov 20, 2008 3:08 pm Yeah Coverdale has a powerful voice when he's in full-tilt. A bit more "throat" than the other hard rock singers of the time. However his range was substantially less than the others. If you like his voice, check out "Grand Magus", particularly their "Monument" album. Heavy and sludgy and very 70's sounding - VERY "Coverdale-esque" vocal delivery. Dude also sings for "Spiritual Beggars", another 70's-ish stoner/metal outfit. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Fri Nov 21, 2008 11:55 am Probably because a lot of folk think Kiss are a total joke. Seriously they were absolutely HATED in rock circles when they got really big. Lunchboxes, dolls... it was everything Rock n Roll was AGAINST. Then along come these pansies in make up, disco'd up hard rock and made it pretty. All about being bigger, but not necessarily better. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Fri Nov 21, 2008 10:30 pm Dude, my point was the music was so piss-weak it came nowhere near close to redeeming them from their absolute lameness. It's not like the commercialism was incidental to the fame, they deliberately set out to become a Disney rock band and definately succeeded. That's just me though Some of my best friends are Kiss fans. I don't hold it against them (*insert obligatory joke about Gene being a money-grabbing jew lol*) This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Fri Nov 21, 2008 10:31 pm. |

Posted: Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:32 am "man i don't know why i am the only person that i have talked to that thought kiss were the best band of rock2wgtn " Come on mate you don't seriously believe that do you? Alice Cooper blew them out of the water with his performance. Kiss were lack lustre & didn't appear to have naything apart from the same ol' gimmicks they've been using since the 1970's , Gene going vertical on a scissor lift! And a couple of pyros. YAWN! Boring mate. Been done to death. I've worked pub bands with more exciting performances than that! If you're absolutely honest then you'll admit that Alice was by far the ebst performance that night & in my view Whitesnake far exceeded Ozzy performances the next night. I hope you guys are all gonna get your tickets to Maiden in CHCH. Lets show Paul Dainty that CHCH want these big acts here. Fan Club presales around 5000 for both venues I have been told. Lets make sure we sell out this gig then theres no excuses for Dainty to use when an act doesn't come here! Also in the pipeline is Paul Di'anno schdueld to tour ehre in May. Details aren't finalised but he says dates out soon on his myspace site. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:32 am i didn't take offens lol. and i do realise that kiss are in it more for the merch than the music, but thats why they are so successful, that kiss army is totally nuts! but i still think their live show was awsome. my point still stands about judging a band for that background politics, for example i have a freind that refuses to listen to down because of the whole phil anselmo BS. i say "wtf how can you miss out on such a great band because of politics, its not like you were even there and know exactly what happened." and he says "phil is a douchbag that doesn't deserve the time of day" really fustrates me. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:50 am Mate, I'm not saying there performance was crap because of politics, I'm saying it was compared to Alice, because, well it was! Simple! They were outclassed & out performed by Alice. had feck all to do with politics. This message was edited by TheRoadie on Sat Nov 22, 2008 3:15 pm. |
