RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 9:23 am its unlikely there would be another one given the support the last one had especially on the first night. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:48 am I think it would be a one dayer. Agree on most of those bands but need younger stuff too. Where? The Naki would be great!! |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 12:31 pm Yeah some more *relevant* bands would be the key to a good turnout. Because aside from Lordi (who aren't exactly an "in" band in the hard rock world) it was music that had limited appeal - bands that were huge once, but don't have the pull they did in their heyday. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Mon Aug 4, 2008 1:19 pm true, but cheesy old rockers have more money and are less fickle than kids with their $500 ipods who complain about paying $5.00 for a nz band in a pub or all ages venue. should have a mixture of old and new to cover both markets or something. |

I think down south here there's a growing resentment of the fact that the North Island gets 90% of the good stuff, especially where rock & metal is involved. Christchurch at least has a great pull for International DJ's, but not bands. Having a big event like this down south would pull thousands of S.I punters, and it'd be no sweat for the North Islanders to come down just this once. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:46 pm you may hate the fact that we get most the good stuff but thats cause auckland pulls the biggest crowds. and theres no denying that a rock2auckland would be more successful than a rock2chch. no offence or nothing im just goin on population dinamics. and heeps of ppl were going on bout how rck2wgtn didnt have a good crowd turnout coz it wasnt in auckland. plus hamilton and whangare are a short drive from here and there arnt bigis cities near welly or chch. |

RE: Rumours of Rock2Wgtn 2009? Posted: Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:52 pm I toured on the Ball Breaker Tour & I am still in contact with a couple of guys working for AC/DC now. They say the Promotor does not like the venues in Auckland & he believes the south is probably going to be more successful with the numbers who came up to Wellington this year. I also know there are pencil bookings for both QE 2 park, where AC/Dc played on the Ball breaker tour & for Lancaster Park. Mind you pencil bookings mean nothing as promotors will book a whole lot of venues until they know whats happening. Auckland in my opinion will not be viable. Just look at Judas Priest. They gave the usual promotor bullshit story of "Logistics"for the cancellation. The fact is that it was pre ticket sales which canned it. Promotors especially that promotor, rely on pre sales to finance the gig. Lets face it, Auckland is hip hop central. They were never going to sell out Priest! The same promotor was told int he 1990s he had no idea of the markets here when he had to cancel Bones , Thugs n Haromony in Christchurch for lack of sales & at the same time Motorhead in Auckland for the same reason. Had they played in reverse venues both would have sold out. But hey I am a mere retired roadie what the hell would I know about the audiences? If it is auckland his sales will be even worse than Wellington because most of the south Islanders just won't bother. Top be honest, I don't know why he didn't do Wellington again & try & establish it at the same venue. Festivals always take a while to get established. |
